This compilation of classic 1960s Frank Sinatra material, the first in Reprise's two-volume anthology of notable Sinatra performances, collects a wide variety of the singer's recordings. "Strangers in the Night" was a massive hit for Sinatra in 1966, while "Something Stupid," his duet with his daughter Nancy, performed similarly well a couple of years later. "Forget Domani" demonstrates the master showman's facility with even the most lightweight material, while "It Was a Very Good Year" is the first in a series of regretful backward glances that was to culminate in his early-'70s recording of "My Way." |
