Grey's Anatomy is "a winner," raves the New York Daily News. Both a critical hit and fan favorite, Season One bursts onto the television landscape with gripping plot lines, a sensational soundtrack and hot stars, including Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, and Sandra Oh. Now you can experience all the drama, romance and excitement of Grey's Anatomy from the very beginning.

Meet Meredith Grey, a brilliant first-year surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital. Together with her fellow residents in training, Meredith navigates her way through the daily traumas and social landmines of life inside the hospital and out in the real world. Grey's Anatomy is a smart and witty look at young people struggling to be doctors and doctors struggling to stay human.

"...brilliantly written, extremely well acted and directed to near perfection...a must have.  Home Theater Info
"...romance coupled with a healthy dollop of life-and-death situations...the next king of hospital dramas.  Justin Deimen, The Urban Wire
"...a smart, new drama...very clever in its execution...  Mark Runyon, PM Media Review
"You simply can't stop watching.  NewsDay
"...a compulsively watchable soap opera that fuses wit and heart to charming effect...Highly recommended.  Preston Jones, DVD Talk

Editor's Note
For viewers bored or distressed by the constant gore and breakneck speed of hospital dramas like ER, GREY'S ANATOMY comes as a breath of fresh air. Unlike other shows set in the world of medicine, this series is just as concerned with its characters' personal lives as with their medical careers, and thrives by stressing the way in which they intertwine. After all, for surgical interns who have chosen to dedicate their lives to medicine, the hospital largely becomes their home. Extremely well-written, the series mixes serious issues like mortality with funny storylines and wit. Each character is well developed and individualized, coming off as real rather than a stereotype. The relationships between the characters are what make the show unique, with interesting bonds developing like the one between vulnerably hardheaded Christine (Sandra Oh in an Emmy Award-winning role) and the show's main protagonist Meredith (Ellen Pompeo). Self-pitying, stubborn, selfless, and determined all at the same time, each character plays a crucial role in the show's pleasing ensemble feel. Rather than standing on its own, each medical challenge sheds some light on the doctors' personal experiences, bringing the hospital environment to a refreshingly relevant level. While the series may not be the most realistic medical drama on television, it is certainly the most compelling and entertaining, containing such juicy plotlines as love triangles, affairs between coworkers, and secret crushes and romances. A thoughtful soundtrack full of indie artists like Rilo Kiley helps give the show its youthful tone, while narration by Ellen Pompeo's character highlights each episode's themes, helping to bridge the gap between the show's lighthearted issues and more somber ones. This release contains every episode from the show's highly addictive first season.

DVD Verdict 9 of 10
A word-of-mouth hit when it appeared as a midseason replacement show in 2005, ABC's Grey's Anatomy has blossomed into a national phenomenon thanks to a cast of sharply drawn characters that elevates the show above its standard medical drama material...Grey's Anatomy creator Shonda Rhimes has obviously poured her heart and talent into this handsomely produced, carefully conceived drama, but its first time at bat is...well, safe. It neither draws nor crosses a line. If anything, it bends over backward toeing it...But for a show that follows the straight and narrow, Grey's Anatomy is enormously entertaining, benefiting immeasurably from liberal doses of humor and spot-on casting choices...Fully realized characters and a crackerjack ensemble cast make Grey's Anatomy worth watching. This show is instantly addictive... - Bryan Pope
