Rock the Rhythm, Lead, and Bass Guitar Tracks in the Follow-Up Sequel to Guitar Hero!
Form your guitar duo and shred riffs cooperatively or go head to head in all new multiplayer modes. With over 55 tracks to rock out to, you'll go from Guitar Hero to Guitar god in one press of a fret button. Choose from multiple rock characters and jam at concert venues that grow in size as your rock career progresses. You'll start your rock career playing small clubs and bars, but if you play well you'll work your way up to stadiums and arenas.

Guitar Hero II takes the guitar rock experience to new volumes by allowing players to play 3 different guitar tracks: Rhythm, Bass, and Lead. Guitar Hero II introduces all new multiplayer modes like: cooperative, pro-face off, and face off, letting 2 Guitar Heroes conduct their own symphonies of destruction. Shred School: Guitar Hero II features an all new practice mode, allowing Guitar Zeroes to become Guitar Heroes with enough practice.

"...1.21 gigawatts of blazing electric guitar gameplay with a perfect track selection, perfect gameplay, perfect multiplayer, and perfect fun...  Game Chronicles

Buckethead, why must you torment me so? The KFC-helmeted guitarist's frenetic composition Jordan is far and away the biggest challenge of Guitar Hero II, and one of many pleasant surprises packed into the rocking sequel. Honestly, we'd have been content with some new songs, a practice mode and multiplayer handicapping, but Harmonix and RedOctane have jammed so much more into this sequel, and done it with such style, that we'd give Guitar Hero II 6 stars if we could. With 64 songs, co-op play, bass and rhythm guitar lines, expanded stats breakdowns, widescreen support and even a "lag offset" feature, Guitar Hero II rocks even harder than we hoped it would.

Guitar Hero II, the anticipated follow-up to last year's biggest sleeper hit, wants you to be a rock god. The part air-guitar, part rhythm game for PlayStation 2 delivers more axe grinding action to an entirely new rock 'n' roll soundtrack. The good news -- it's better than we could have imagined...Guitar Hero II on the PlayStation 2 stands tall, with devil horns fully extended on both hands. Visually, the presentation is a knockout, the play list is impressive, and the numerous modes are all worth experiencing, particularly co-op and practice. Denying oneself the glory of Guitar Hero II is unacceptable, even if another instrument is preferred. It's one of the best games of the year, as well as one of the best music/rhythm games ever made. - Robert Workman
