My first date never happened. When I finally built up enough nerve, I dared to ask one of the girls in my ninth-grade class to go to some kind of dance or other--I don't remember exactly; it was long ago. To my amazement, she accepted. (from the first line)
Short stories, anecdotes, cartoons, and columns are compiled by such authors as Stephen King and Gordon Korman, who share the comical, sad, and strange memories of their life as boys and the impact those moments had in their later lives. *Author: Scieszka, Jon (COM) *Publication Date: 2008/04/10 *Number of Pages: 272 *Binding Type: Paperback *Grade Level: 4-6 *Language: English *Depth: 1.00 *Width: 6.00 *Height: 9.25
In this exciting anthology, Eoin Colfer, Matt Groening, Daniel Handler, Brian Jacques, Walter Dean Myers, Garth Nix, and Christopher Paolini are just a few of over 80 popular male authors and artists who have set out to tackle the mysteries surrounding what it means to be a guy. Just a few of the topics included among the massive number of personal memories, silly stories, and advice, are romantic failures and triumphs, learning to live with being scrawny, and first brushes with adult dishonesty. Each piece is very short, and the collection is meant to encourage reluctant readers, most often boys, to discover and enjoy reading. With a variety of B&W illustrations, line drawings, and comics.
