I did a lot of reach prior to purchasing the ESA410K (2011 model) a week ago. Frigidaire was my first choice, but with it being 90deg outside in Ohio, nobody was offering any sales on AC units. I happen to find this Haier on sale at Target for $229 ($70 off), so decided to give it a try. I performed the most professional job I could installing the unit, and it performs very well. It’s been in the mid-90s this week, and the unit (on energy saver mode), plugs along on LOW, keeping the whole house at 73deg. It is primarily cooling a 300 sq/ft living room and adjoining 144 sq/ft master bedroom, but I circulate the air with a ceiling fan, and it also keeps the other end of the house at 75deg. I have a 1,750 sq/ft ranch. The unit performs as expected, and once the air temp gets caught up, the unit shuts off, like it should. There is no fan or compressor noise inside the house, only the air turbulence (blowing) sound coming from the front vent. You can’t ask for anything more than that. The instructions inform you NOT to drill a hole in the bottom, but I did anyway, so that there isn’t a standing pool of water inside to get nasty with bugs and leaves. To do this, I merely turned on the unit, watched where the water pooled and drilled a 1/8 hole there. After one week, I would highly recommend this unit! Consumer Reports rates last year’s “J” model at #6.
