A 3-d concert film of the 2007 hannah montana/miley cyrus tour. This is the theatrical film that grossed $31 million!!

"...a godsend to those hordes of desperate parents unable to secure tickets for their heartsick tweens...  Frank Scheck, The Hollywood Reporter
"...Cyrus exudes a goofball vitality and sunny work ethic that ultimately wins you over...  Jan Stuart, Los Angeles Times
"She has boundless energy, a wardrobe that won't quit, and enough real teenager in her to come across as more than a mere Disney creation.  Joseph P. Kahn, Boston Globe

Editor's Note
Based on the hit Disney television show, HANNAH MONTANA/MILEY CYRUS: BEST OF BOTH WORLDS CONCERT TOUR 3-D provides dedicated fans an all-access pass to the Best of Both Worlds concert tour. Leaving behind character Miley Stewart, the concert instead splits time between pop phenom Hannah Montana and Cyrus, who assumes the role of Montana's "ordinary girl" alter ego. Footage of the concert is interspersed with numerous behind-the-scene vignettes. Among these are pre-tour rehearsals--orchestrated by HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL impresario Kenny Ortega--and a touching jam session with father Billy Ray Cyrus. Also included are ecstatic fan testimonials and the film's most humorous moment, in which fathers race each other in high-heeled shoes for the chance to win concert tickets and backstage passes. Montana/Cyrus is joined on stage by the Jonas Brothers, who whip up the crowd with their own brand of high-energy pop. The film employs most of its 3-D tricks in the opening credits then pulls back the reins to focus on giving viewers the next best thing to actually being at the show. Filled with fist-pumping anthems ("Girls Night Out," "Nobody's Perfect," and the title track), BEST OF BOTH WORLDS remains true to the television show's dual personality theme: through good times and bad, every girl is her own superstar. For fans and parents alike, it's a wholesome and empowering message wrapped up in pure infectious fun.

Last year, Hannah Montana, the TV alter ego of 15-year-old Miley Cyrus, drew more crowds to arenas than Bruce Springsteen, the Police and Van Halen...Apart from the short shot of dads in drag, "Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour" is a rehash of its namesake concert, which begins with the husky voiced singer performing one set of tunes as Montana and then another as herself...In between, there is a two-song performance by another Disney-backed group called the Jonas Brothers, who look like three-fifths of the Strokes and sing like fourth-tier boy-band O-Town...There are a few backstage scenes that go out of their way to emphasize how ordinary Cyrus actually is, showing the singer learning dance moves from the concert's 57-year-old producer Kenny Ortega (a former member of the Tubes), lying on a couch and playing guitar with her dad, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus...The only bit of real drama comes when she nearly slips off the shoulders of her backup dancers as they attempt to lift her up for one number...If it wasn't for the stellar 3-D effects, there wouldn't be much to stop this hastily produced film from heading straight to DVD. But the scene at the end where all the confetti comes flying out and the pyrotechnics go off? Even I was willing to let out a little scream for that. - Aidin Vaziri

The Hannah Montana phenomenon belongs to the kids, belongs to the preteen girls who have made this Disney TV character (and her real-life alter ego, Miley Cyrus) the current pop princess of the realm. All hail. And in 3-D, no less. Cyrus (the daughter of "Achy Breaky" Billy Ray) is a natural-born performer, and the ability of someone as young as she to bewitch stadiums full of fans is indeed a true marvel. And now that those modern-day Mouseketeers have turned a tad feral, Cyrus has been handed the palace keys to the Magic Kingdom. Disney put her in the hands of primo tour director Kenny Ortega (some of whose previous triumphs have included choreographing Madonna's "Material Girl" video and the film Dirty Dancing and directing High School Musical 1 and 2). Cyrus' costumes sparkle, her energy is boundless, her teeth are perfectly straight and white, and she does have a modicum of talent which appears to be exploited to the nth degree. Whether any of this deserves bringing out the 3-D cameras, which contribute nothing but extra sparkle and razzamatazz, is debatable. Yet the show delivers with its corps of dancers, backup singers, elaborate runways, and a couple of tunes by boy group the Jonas Brothers, who do their thing while the fictional Hannah makes the backstage transition into the flesh-and-blood Miley. - Marjorie Baumgarten
