The insanely powerful Harman Kardon HK 3490 combines all of an audiophile's must-haves (high-performance phono preamp, preout/main-in jacks, high-current amplification) with an array of multichannel extras (digital-audio inputs, video switching, dual subwoofer outputs and Dolby Virtual Speaker technology). Add The Bridge II docking station, and the HK 3490 will connect as elegantly to your newfangled iPod as it does to your time-honored turntable. The HK 3490 isn't a snob about where the music comes from, as long as it sounds great when it reaches its final destination - your ears.
Customer Reviews of Harman HK 3490 A/V Receiver - NTSC, PAL, SECAM - FM, AM, XM
To all you music lovers hk3490 is a great receiver and i just love it,i use the receiver for playing cd's, and as well as for my old school radio station, but most of all for my turntable, see I'm old school myself and all i want is that old school beat and i have it with the HK3490 thank you harman/karden for making my day,and most of all thank you buy.com for helping the public with our needs.
I am very pleased with this unit. I bought it to listen to music, mainly jazz, although I do have it hooked up to my HDTV as well. I bought it with the Bridge II iPod accessory. It gives me high quality stereo using everything from a turntable to digital. I find the reproduction quality to be first rate. The sound is bright, much like live music. I have been going through my music collection and realizing how much I have been missing using my old receiver. This unit brings out the best in everything. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves music.
Great Stereo Receiver3/9/2009
I purchased this unit for a two room setup (only 1 rm setup for now). I have it run to a pair of Klipsch 4.5s. Sounds great. Some have commented on the bright sound. Hard to tell on the KGs as their horns sound that way already. Overall, I think it sounds balanced. There's quite enough power to drive the KGs LOUD (only when the kids and wife are out). Two (minor) wants: 1. Illuminated function buttons, and 2. more options for adjusting the bass/treble balance. Aside from that, I love it. Great purchase and a lot better quality than the Sony type stereo receivers. Unfortunately too many electronics makers are focused on home theater and have ignored those that actually like to listen to music for enjoyment.
