"Menacing and meditative, Hallows is arguably the best installment of the planned eight-film franchise... Scott Bowles, USA Today
Editor's NoteInstead of distilling J.K. Rowling's behemoth bestseller into a single film, director David Yates and his cast and crew have divided the final book in the Harry Potter series into a pair of movies. In this first installment in the two-part epic, Harry's final adventure begins. HARRY POTTER AND THE DEATHLY HALLOWS: PART I marks the third Potter film for Yates, who also helmed HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX and HARRY POTTER AND THE HALFBLOOD PRINCE.

Customer Reviews of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows-P1
There was a satisfying ending to the saga. You saw plenty of fighting and magic. Had a lot of talking scenes, but it was an appropriate ending.
Great Action packed movie!9/27/2012
I love this movie. It is so detailed and full of insights to the series.
Deathly Hallows is not for children9/5/2011
I've seen all the Harry Potter movies so far. The three main characters have grown and matured with the actors who portray them (Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson). The themes are more serious, darker in nature, and more intense. There are relationship issues, and matters of good versus evil resulting in death, revenge, and more death. The opening scene of this movie shows a woman being tortured to death by wizards. The themes are not suitable for children. Only older teens and adults should consider watching this movie. (I haven't read the books, so I don't know how graphic they are.) This movie is part 1 of 2 that span the seventh and final book, of the same title. I won’t spoil it by giving away the plot. But there are the familiar themes of the quest, the test of loyalty, and finding one’s inner strength and resolve to face one’s fears and overcome one’s foes. The writing, direction, and acting are all impressive. And you have all the action, suspense, and special effects you would expect from a big-budget movie based on J.K. Rowling’s phenomenal book series. But the stories have become progressively dark and the subject matter often disturbing. Bear that in mind before you watch it, or if you are deciding whether to let children watch it.
