Author Bio
Robyn Carr
Romance writer Robyn Carr is well known for her contemporary Virgin River novels, which take place in a fictional town in California. Carr was born in Minnesota, but when she married her high-school sweetheart, Jim, his military career took the couple to bases in Texas, Florida, California, and Arizona. Although she had trained as a nurse, Carr was unable to seriously pursue her career because of the frequency of their moves. Confined to bed during a difficult pregnancy, she read up to 10 romances a week, and she came to believe that she could become a writer instead. In 1980 her first historical romance, CHELYNNE, was published. She later branched out into contemporary settings, and in 2007 she published VIRGIN RIVER, the first book in her popular series. Many of the characters in the Virgin River books are veterans, a group for which Carr has a special affinity. (Her husband is now retired from the Air Force, and the couple has settled in Las Vegas.) Although she is exceedingly fond of Virgin River and its denizens, Carr has said that if the rugged town actually existed, she would not want to live there. "I have an overwhelming need to live in a place where I can get my eyebrows waxed," she has quipped.
Praise
"Carr keeps her Virgin River stories coming, much to the delight of readers. In this volume she continues her winning combination of homey details with a tensely emotional exploration of characters at a turning point in their lives."
