Customer Reviews of Hauppauge 1187 WinTV-HVR-1250 Hybrid TV Tuner - PCI Express x1 - ATSC - White Box
Works as advertised.8/28/2013
This was a replacement as my MSI TV Anywhere tuner died (No picture). Reception is better than the previous one. Haven't done any recording as I use mostly for watching TV while surfing the web.
I must have missed it, but this is the Media Center version. The CD that came with it did not contain WinTV 7. I wanted this version because Beyond TV said that the other 1250 version (with the remote) was not compatible in analog mode. Initially I didn't care about not having WinTv 7, because I had BeyondTV. But their implementation of QAM channels and mapping them to the guide was really bad. Hauppauge has WinTV 7 available for download but it requires a CD during installation. So I had to search the net and I finally found and downloaded an ISO copy of the CD with WinTV7. I got it installed and it's ok. Better (so far) than BeyondTV, but I'm not done playing yet. I recorded an hour of HD and it took up 1.3 gig. Comcast broadcasts in MPEG 720P. Cpu usage on my AMD 3800+ was pretty low. The recording was good quality. Just had to rename the recording from a .ts to .mpg to play it
Video capture dead1/27/2009
TV tuner is working but the video capture is dead. I bought it primarily to connect my cable box but ended up as a OTA tuner.

Installs and works great with Media Center, Dont forget to install Analog Signal driver if not Digital Signal. And reboot before opening Media Center for the First time.
