Author Bio
Kay Hooper
Kay Hooper is the bestselling author of dozens of novels. Although she began her career with traditional romances, she is now best known for a series featuring a team of psychic crime fighters. Of switching genres mid-career, she has said, "It's [just] a matter of degree: I began writing romances with suspense or mystery (or paranormal) elements, and now I write suspense/thrillers with paranormal and romantic elements." The daughter of a military man, Hooper was born on an Air Force base in California. The family relocated to North Carolina when she was young. Like many women of her generation, she has recalled racing home from school to watch the gothic soap opera DARK SHADOWS, which sparked her love of the paranormal. Hooper later studied business at a local community college but quickly became bored. When she received a much-coveted typewriter for Christmas, she entertained herself by writing a Regency romance. LADY THIEF was published under the pen name Kay Robbins in 1980, and her career was launched. In 2000 she published STEALING SHADOW, the first in her series of paranormal suspense novels. She is routinely asked if she, like her protagonists, possesses psychic powers; she typically quips, "I knew you were going to ask that."
