Customer Reviews of Hawking HW2R1 Hi-Gain Wireless-N Dual Radio Smart Repeater
Easy setup but reduced internet speed by 75% causing strong but slow connection. Tech support is not very helpful & hard to understand. Tech support treats you with contempt & indifference as if you are using up their valuable time. Not a pleasant experience.
Bought this hoping to extend my wireless signal. I could not get it to connect to the IP address of the Hawking Tech setup site, so I called their tech support. The techs accent was so heavy that I simply could not understand him and after him having to spell about every other word, I finally gave up. I then tried to email the tech support. The directions I got from that tech guy were ungrammatical and full of tech jargon--I couldn't understand him either. Next I paid 37.00 to hire a router expert on JustAnswers. We worked the better part of two days before he finally decided that the unit must be defective. We discovered in the meantime that the ip address given in the Hawking Tech guide that came with the unit was incorrect--although we could not get it to work even using the correct ip. I would not recommend this unit--not simply because I apparently received a defective one, but because it is impossible to communicate with their tech support.
