I didn't notice that my laptop requires the SATA drives which have a different set of pins to connect. Once I ordered this drive from buy.com I got stuck with it. They refused to accept an unopened box! They said to contact Hitachi. They said if it wasn't defective, they could do nothing for me. I ended up having to sell this one on e-bay at a loss. Poor policy by Buy.com ensures that I won't order hard drives from them any more.
This drive appears to be new and worked right out of the packaging. I ran Spinrite 6 and found no bad spots or read errors on this drive. I made three passes with no surface errors! I installed Windows XP Pro
and all my software and have experienced no problems! Because I replace a 5400 RPM drive with this 7200 RPM drive the performance of my notebook has increased noticably. The temperature of this new drive runs 5 degrees cooler than the old 5400 RPM drive.
