From the Publisher:
From Newbery Honor award-winning author Laurence Yep comes a boldly written, fictionalized account of the bombing of Hiroshima, as seen through the eyes of 12-year-old Sachi. Based on the actual accounts of Hiroshima survivors, this riveting novella tells the poignant story of a young girl and a city destroyed by war--and healed by the courage to rebuild and survive.
Annotation:
In this account of what happened when the atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima in 1945, points of view vary from the men flying the Enola Gay, the plane which dropped the bomb, to that of a young girl who was a victim of the attack. The character of the young girl is a composite of several girls and women who survived the bombing.

Praise

Booklist
"The account is fair, nonhectoring, and totally devastating. Though accessible to middle-grade readers, this will also interest older readers, who will find nothing condescending in content or format." - Hazel Rochman 03/15/1995
