Author Bio
Jane Yolen
Multifaceted author Jane Yolen spent her childhood in New York City, Virginia, and California. She attended Smith College, and after graduation began working at the Knopf publishing company. Yolen writes for adults, young adults, and children. Her first book for children, PIRATES IN PETTICOATS, was published in 1963. Her son, musician Adam Stemple, frequently collaborates with her on the songs that appear in her books. Jane Yolen is admired for her skill as an author, poet, playwright, and anthologist.An author and illustrator of children's books, Mark Teague graduated from U.C. Santa Cruz with a degree in U.S. history. He became interested in creating books for young readers while designing window displays for a Barnes & Noble bookstore in New York City. His first book, THE TROUBLE WITH THE JOHNSTONS was published in 1989. Mark Teague has also illustrated several children's books under the pen name Elroy Freem.
