Editor's Note
As an unofficial follow-up to the prior science-themed documentary miniseries PLANET EARTH and LIFE, the eight-part HUMAN PLANET undertakes the ambitious task of exploring the complex and multifaceted relationship between nature and mankind. The program rests on the thesis that billions of years of evolution have transformed humans into the most capable and successful species on the planet - beings reputed for our courage and adaptability, and our inborn survival skills. The series builds on this foundation with 80 interwoven inspirational stories set to an original score by Nitin Sawhney; more broadly, each episode hones in on one specific habitat and investigates how its people have devised ingenious solutions to problems despite the obstacles standing in their way - culminating in a detailed analysis of earth's cities.
