This advanced, yet simple to operate tuner connects to nearly all HD ready monitors and delivers the most intuitive user experience available. Setting it aside from the competition is an easy to use on-screen setup guide, direct channel access and automatic channel scanning while in standby mode.
This tuner really works6/20/2006
I was a little upset that the TV I bought was only HD Ready, so I had to buy a separate tuner. But I was delighted with what I got. The automatic quick setup took only a few minutes and was totally painless. It found all the stations in my area and I was ready to go. The tuner came with component video cables, but I bought a HDMI cable separately. When you use that, the tuner takes over the TV and makes that setup easy as well. This tuner can be used as your only tuner, or to convert digital signals for non-digital TVs, or as a second tuner if you have PIP without a second tuner in the TV. The quality of the images is superb.
Good alternative for OTA HD reception.6/1/2006
I've had the Humax HFA100 since the beginning of this year and am pleased with it's performance. The price is right and the digital outputs should fit most user's needs. I do wish that channels could be custom named by the user, instead of guessing by looking at station call signs. Of course, I receive stations from 2 metro areas, which can be somewhat confusing at times. In my theater setup it all comes down to reception. I use an indoor amplified antenna from R.S. which works without a hitch with the Humax. Overall the Humax is a great product that performs as advertised.
Was a Skepic, now a believer!!4/4/2006
As I said in the headline, I was a skeptic. Having lived with no cable or satellite TV all these years, and nothin but a crappy rabbit ears antenna, I thought why the hell not give this a shot. I purchased the Humax HD and DTV reciever from buy.com, which by the way has the best price. I purchased it for my Infocus SP5000 HDTV projector and also purchased several antennas, both indoor and outdoor. With my Zenith medium range outdoor, I now recieve all my local channels including some I never recieved before. They all come in perfect, all 22 of them. I'm now interested in Frontline and Nova because they come in HD. Conan, Oprah, Jay Leno, several sporting events, and a ton more programming comes in HD than I ever expected--and if not HD, then still digital. I have to say, the Humax HFA100 changed the way I watch TV. Now the whole family gathers to watch sporting events on the big screen, the 100" -By the way, if anyone can tell me how to wire a coaxial cable into the house without drilling a hole I would appreciate it.-
Works well, Simple1/23/2006
I previously was using a computer with a PCI card to receive Over The Air HDTV signals. The Humax provides much better reception. With a rooftop antenna I have 90-100% signal strength on every available station. Setup was simple and straight forward. I'm currently using the analog VGA connector to my TV, picture quality is great. I also tried the component video output. I was not able to discern any significant difference on my 720p 50" TV. I was able to program the remote to perform all the necessary functions on my TV (power and changing inputs). Overall, very satisfied with this product. I'm considering purchasing another for my smaller non-HD tv.
