Customer Reviews of HYPE 5500mAh Universal External Laptop Battery
not up to specs2/5/2013
The only problem with this item is that it is not a 5500 mah battery. It is in fact a 4400 mah battery. Other wise it works fine.
Works as advertised, so far. Not enough time to assess durability.
Not as Advertised1/11/2013
Did not work with my Compaq laptop
Needs additional adapters to be fully Universal1/11/2013
It does work with many laptops but will not work on Dell's Inspiron 1525, Precision M6600 series for sure.
Arrived as advertised, needs box or bag for > 15 accessories - works great - would like to see yoke which would allow for multipule hook ups.
It does what is supposed to do1/8/2013
It can be charging and plugged to my computer at the same time so it never runs out unless there is a power outage then it extends the battery life for an additional 3 to 5 hours depending on the computer
DigiPpower EBP-NB60 (substitute for HYPE)1/6/2013
Received DigiPower as substitute. One connector was missing. The storage capacity is only 4400mA vs over 5000mA for other similar batteries. The USB output port is only 650mA so not enough for any of the tablets. Also stated that it can not charge any Dell laptops and it is only good enough to run the Dell laptop.
Does not work with current IBM/Lenovo Laptops1/6/2013
This is a great idea and I would have loved to use it; however, it is NOT compatible with the IBM T60, T61, or Lenovo T410 Thinkpad. Those Thinkpads require a 20V 3.25A output charger -- but, even if the 19V battery worked, it does not come with a tip that fits the IBM T60, T61 or T410 laptops.
Good Portable Backup1/6/2013
A necessarily heavy unit is compact and thus still easy to carry. It comes with enough tips to fit many of my rechargables well beyond my laptop--I have not yet tried it on all of them. Outputs include one for laptops and a USB for smaller devices. I cannot comment on longevity or durability; it is solidly built and sleek with no sharp edges. My initial impression is that it is a good product which I will be pleased to have in my inventory.
Not a bad product in a pinch1/5/2013
Easy to use and the USB adapter makes it easy to adapt. There was no Apple adapter though (iPad, iPhone....), but for most other laptops, you're covered.
great deal and works great
Difficult to Setup12/31/2012
I've only had the battery for a week and it somewhat works the way the poorly written instructions says it will work. Selecting the correct adapters is no easy feat, do to the instructions. I hope the units is better than the instructions. Also, the unit should have an audio alert when the battery is about to run out. Instead if you don't pay attention to the light indicators your laptop will run out of power.
OK product with one exception12/31/2012
Except for only being able to charge using a 16 or 19 volt laptop charger the item works well.
Great backup battery for notebook/netbook12/30/2012
Tried 3 different notebooks, 1 netbook and all working fine. Very sturdy unit, a little heavier though.
I love this item, I can charge my laptop and my phone and fast shipping and great deal too!!!
May not fit your netbook5/10/2012
The appearance is good and it appears to be charging correctly, but I ran into a snag when none of the adapter plugs fit the socket in my Averatech netbook. The netbook socket is slightly smaller that the smallest adapter plug (4.75 mm). I will try to find the smaller plug elsewhere and configure my own adapter. The 4.75 mm charging input adapter will accept the smaller Averatech plug and charge the battery.
