One day my mama caught me paintin' pictures on the floor and the ceiling and the walls and the curtains and the door, and I heard my mama holler like I never did before... (from the first line)
When told not to paint the walls, this spirited, creative child paints himself instead! A perfect story for the oversized board book format, to the tune of "It Ain''t Gonna Rain No More." Full color.
From the Publisher:
A dab of blue here, a splash of red there, a goopy smear of green . . . everywhere. To the tune of "It Ain't Gonna Rain No More," one creative kid floods his world with color, painting first the walls, then the ceiling, then himself! Before this feisty artist is through, he'll have painted his head, back, hands, legs, feet, and . . . Oh, no, here comes Mama!||Karen Beaumont's zippy text and David Catrow's zany illustrations turn an infamous childhood activity into raucous story-time fun, giving a silly twist to the fine art of self-expression. Now in board book format!|
Annotation:
Explosively colorful, messy fun unfolds in this delightful, funky picture book. A big-headed little boy can not keep himself from turning the house into a canvas for his color madness, much to the chagrin of his mother who banishes him to the bath, bellowing "Ya ain't a-gonna paint no more!" But though the paints are hidden away on the top shelf of the closet, the boy soon rescues them and, starting with some red, he douses his head in color. He swears he won't "paint no more," but he can't resist adding just a few more colors. Needless to say, it all goes down hill from there. With B&W ink drawings accompanied by extravagantly wild splashes of paint everywhere.

Kirkus Reviews
"A madcap painting romp...that kids will beg for again and again and again." 03/15/2005

School Library Journal
"Since the last word of each verse comes on the following page, readers get the satisfaction of completing the anticipated rhyme and seeing each newly painted body part with each page turn. Catrow splashes color all over, uses white-space cleverly, and included playful flourishes, such as a marching row of ants on the boy's arm and Easter egg designs on his leg." 05/01/2005
