From the Publisher
Annotation Sophia is a little confused when her grandfather gives her an olive tree for her seventh birthday, especially because the olive tree is in Greece. After her grandfather dies, Sophia and her mother travel to Greece to see Sophia's tree and learn more about their family heritage. Sophia learns more about her grandfather's life and comes to appreciate the wonderful gift he gave her. Illustrated with color paintings.
Editors Note The day she turns seven, Sophia's grandfather gives her an olive tree. At first, Sophia thinks it's an odd gift, but when Grandfather dies, she and her mother travel to Greece to see the tree. There, Sophia walks the old streets; hears the language, strange and beautiful; sees the house where her family lived for generations; and finally, finds her tree and discovers that what her Grandfather has given her is far greater than anything she'd ever imagined.
