It isn't easy for a lady to avoid a lecherous gentleman at a party. That's why Emma Greyson conceals herself in a wardrobe, only to find it already occupied by the intimidating Edison Stokes. Known for his business prowess, Edison has his own reasons for hiding -- as Emma soon realizes. Swept into a world of intrigue and mysticism -- and swept off her feet by Edison -- Emma plunges into the middle of a dangerous scheme that could turn the romance of her dreams into the nightmare of her life.

Reprint. After meeting the "man of her dreams" while trying to hide in the wardrobe at a party, Ema Greyson is swept up into a world of passion and intrigue. Reprint.Hiding from the advances of a lecherous gentleman during a country house party, lady's companion Emma Greyson stumbles upon the enigmatic Edison Stokes, an aristocratic sleuth on the trail of a thief who has stolen a sacred book
Emma Greyson is not the world's best lady's companion. Smart, sassy, and beautiful, she is more likely to steal the show than stand demurely in the shadows waiting for her turn to speak or serve. So when the successful--and intuitive--businessman Edison Stokes discovers that someone at a high society gathering is looking for a woman on whom to test some spells in an ancient book of potions, he immediately thinks of Emma. Determined to save her from the clutches of this possibly murderous villain, Edison hires Emma as his assistant so that he may keep her by his side--and his heart.

Jayne Ann Krentz, who writes under numerous pseudonyms, received a B.A. in history from the University of California at Santa Cruz, and a master's in library science from San Jose State University. She worked for years as a librarian at Duke University and at other libraries. Krentz writes many different kinds of romances under her various bylines, but themes such as loyalty and trust are present throughout her work, from her historical romances to her more contemporary romantic suspense novels. In an attempt to help others through her own success, she established the Castle Humanities Fund at her alma matter, UCSC, which enables the library to purchase books it would otherwise be unable to acquire. Krentz has also contributed to elementary schools in Seattle, hoping to provide as many children as possible with the books they need to learn.
