When equipped with LTO-5 tape drives, the Imation L1400 LTO 4U Tape Library delivers the highest LTO storage capacity (up to 1.5 TB natively on each Imation LTO-5 tape cartridge, or up to 3.0 TB with 2:1 software compression) and data transfer rates (up to 140 MB/sec) to date; this gives a total capacity of up to 72 TB native (144 TB with 2:1 compression). This combination of performance and capacity enables SMBs to keep pace with growing demands for data storage while helping to shrink archive windows.

In addition to its 48 data cartridge slots (contained in four removable cartridge magazines), the Imation L1400 LTO 4U Tape Library includes a three-slot I/O station to help support continuous library operation while importing and exporting media. A bar-code reader is also standard, supporting the library's operation in sequential or random access mode.
