Imposter – who is really real?
Kerry Livgren, of rock group Kansas fame and Christian rock group AD, stars in this movie about the fall of a Christian rock musician. Livgren plays an older, mentor-type character, and Kevin Max plays the star who falls from grace and struggles to sort out his life and win back the heart of his wife. Sometimes Christian and Bible-based movies seem overly-simplistic with a happy ending. Not in this story. This is more complex. It is not afraid to show that Christians are human, too. And the people in this story are not idealized. Their lives are not all sweetness and light. They struggle, they hurt, they fall, and still they hope in God. I was skeptical, but I watched it because of Kerry Livgren and the subject matter. I was not disappointed. The ending is not all patched up and fine. There are tough questions presented, and some still unanswered. The challenge is put to the viewer to search for those answers. The characters could be any of us, and the story could be yours or mine in some way, or that of someone close to us. It just might make you look at life and other people differently – more realistically – and hopefully with more grace.
