This processor option with a 512KB L2 cache delivers processing power, throughput and headroom for peak performance to your application-intensive DP blade servers. It features the new Intel NetBurst microarchitecture, which increases throughput via a 533MHz system bus, and features the new Hyper-Threading technology which allows it to execute more than one thread per processor. This processor is also "embedded" with a longer product lifecycle versus non-embedded processors. The "embedded" nature of this processor on the Intel processor roadmap supports an extended production lifecycle of more than one year. These combined features increase the throughput of your blade applications and enable outstanding scalability for telephony switch-based applications, including VoIP/call processing and call gateways. These technology breakthroughs add up to faster response times, support for more simultaneous users, increased transaction and/or call processing workloads and a longer product lifecycle. This processor is designed for customers who require performance headroom for unpredictable workloads, escalating computing needs and extended life. The 533MHz system bus transfers information from the processor to the rest of the system at a rate up to four times faster than the 133MHz system bus used on Pentium III processors.
