The IOGEAR eSATA 3Gbps Dual Port ExpressCard/34 adds 2 eSATA ports to your laptop computer. It is great for users who want to add SATA connectivity to their laptops but do not want to buy a whole new laptop.
Works great with Linux4/28/2009
The card worked great on Linux though I did have to manually load the pciehp module (modprobe pciehp) to get it to recognize it. Much faster than USB2.0.
works great and is hot swappable11/23/2008
I am using this on a multimedia HP notebook. It works great and mymachine is circa dec 2007 laptop. I'm using it with there inexpensive exatas cable and a WD 750G external esata drive. It appears every time I plug the drive in and it doesn't hang the machine if I disconnect it. It's a great buy.
After 1 month I can report that this card works perfectly in a Macbook pro (OS X 10.5) for transferring data from an external drive. The setup was fairly easy, though the included driver did need to be installed and the directions were not very clear as to which driver to install. Overall: no complaints, no problems.
The IOGear eSATA ExpressCard works as described in my two HP dv9000 series laptops and provides a quick way to backup my HDDs using eSATA, which is about 6X as fast as USB 2.0. I'm using Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit and the install was effortless. Backups worked on both laptops (got two cards) flawlessly.
