Customer Reviews of Iomega 34763 1TB Home Media Network Hard Drive, Cloud Edition
Hard drive works good12/14/2012
Hooked to network. Works as advertised. All computers can use the 1TB as backup.
We received this last week, and we are very satisfied. Price...if you go on to the site you will see the actual cost versus what is here so you are getting a deal. Use...We found this to be easy to use and very user friendly. It comes with online assistance that is very helpful.
Don't buy if you have a Mac9/3/2012
It frequently disappears from my computer and is a pain to get back. A lot of Mac users complain about this too.
Easy to set up8/1/2012
I have read mixed reviews about the 1tb NAS that I bought. I found it easy to use right out of the box. I plugged it in, installed the software it came with and began transferring data in under 15 minutes. I am not a network savvy person by any means. I ran into a small problem with memeory but a 2 minute conversation with tech support (chat actually) and the problem was fixed the 1st time. Overall, great buy, very happy and highly recommended.
this external drive is on 24/7 and still running great performance
Impossible setup with software provided6/12/2012
You better be an expert at setting up networks to get this thing to work. Software sucks and don't expect any help from support, it's non existent. I'll be sending this one back.
Status of my Order4/30/2012

Do Not Buy4/3/2012
A co-worker and I both purchased 1TB Network drives from Iomega. His failed within a year and mine failed at the 2 year point. If you do get one, then you better buy another back up just for it!
Software could be better. It took days of work to get it to work right. I'm still trying to get my iCloud to work. I gave up using it to back up with time machine on my MAC. It would keep starting over and bogging down my router. When finished it would last just a few days then restart. I updated it to the latest software updates. Using just as a network back up for now.
I got this Omega 1TB Home Media Network Hard Drive Cloud Edition from the Amazon Vine Program for review. Here's my take on it: Setup was a snap. I noticed another reviewer had a problem with the online portion of the setup using Internet Explorer; I use Firebox and the setup was smooth and uneventful. I simply attached the (supplied) Ethernet cable to the drive and my D-Link router, then connected the power supply. The hardware was detected immediately and I installed the software from the included CD. Three easy steps completed in minutes. I admit to not planning to use the this drive for sharing outside my network of two home computers, so some of the capabilities are beyond the scope of this review. However, I set up everything as if I were going to share with a remote device and it functions flawlessly using the Omega Personal Cloud feature. Simply invite guests and they can have access to photos, movies, files and more (includes the ability to read and write to files and folders on the network drive). Another feature is the powerful backup: you can easily back up all the computers on your network simply by downloading and installing the available client backup software. I currently have a two-year subscription to Carbonite and am considering using the Omega Home Media Network Hard Drive to perform this function instead. Another plus: One-touch copying via the QuikTransfer button allows you to easily copy files to and from attached USB drives or any network using the rsync or CIFS protocol.
I bought the 2 TB version. It's great having our photos and music online so we can use our Sony Bravia and Blu Ray player to browse photos or play music through our sound system. And my Grace Digital internet radio now has access to 4000 tracks on our local network. So, I like it. But... I hooked it up as instructed to our network and installed the Iomega management software. The manager could not discover the drive as it was supposed to. I logged onto our router to find the IP address and added the device manually. That did it. Minor inconvenience. Then I noticed that the NAS device advertised its capacity as 1.8 TB, not 2 TB. OK, 1.8 TB is still a whale of a lot of storage, but it's not 2 TB. Now that I've got 8000 photos and 4000 audio tracks on the drive, there's still 1.78 TB of free space. So, not a big deal.
A sturdy portable hard drive7/29/2011
Iomega eGo 1TB USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive - Blackbelt – 35327 is truly a portable drive in all sense. It is not just because of the USB 3.0 interface alone but also because it is safe from internal and external dangers. I accidentally dropped the drive while trying to remove from my bag which was on the table and thanks to the drop guard technology the drive escaped without a scratch. There was one problem I encountered with Iomega eGo while trying to connect the drive to my MacBook, the drive was not recognized. I was worried and called the customer care and they instantly asked me to reformat the drive if it has to be used for Mac OS. I did this and the drive worked fine with my Macbook.
So Far .. So Good4/22/2011
I bought this NAS for my Home network. The shipping was very fast , I received it the next day. But the front cover with all the buttons and USB port was broken and did not attach to the Harddrive. I returned it and received a replacement in like a week. I really like this NAS so far. Setup was very easy. The transfer speed is not that great. So far .. so good.. I ll keep u guys posted...
