Good drive, when my laptop finally recognized it.
I bought an Iomega eGo 500GB Portable External Hard Drive to backup all of my info from my laptop. I just bought a Dell XPS system for school and have some important info stored that I can't afford to lose in case of an accident. For some reason, my laptop did not recognize this drive when I connected it and just showed "unknown device". After an hour of looking for drivers from Iomega (which they didn't have), I downloaded some USB 3.0 software I found online and hoped for the best. While searching around I noticed other people with the same problem I was having. It was nice to know I wasn't the only one, but discouraging that there wasn't any answers about why this was happening. 30 minutes later I gave up...shut down my laptop and noticed it was completing an update. This is after restarting 3 times in hopes of this happening. Well, now my laptop recognized the drive and I backed up my info and had my doubts about it being recognized in the future. I've connected it about 6 times now, just to test if my laptop recognizes the drive and so far everytime it is available.
