Customer Reviews of Iomega StorCenter px4-300d Network Storage Server - Intel Atom 1.80 GHz - USB, RJ-45 Network
Great value for the price6/26/2013
Once I received the NAS and added the drives to the bays, I booted it up, and upgraded the firmware to the latest version. The web console is kind of sluggish, and the user interface is not the most friendly one. Once I got used to it I was able to configure RAID-5 with my drives, and it has been working great.
Good Product with horrible documentation4/23/2013
Decided to finally bite the bullet and get an NAS Server for my home/business network. Reviews touted the ease of use and setup so I ordered the iOmega StorCenter px4-300d and two 3TB Segate hard drives. Installing drives was a snap, but spent nearly 2 days getting the server set up. Storage Manager software and Server Firmware required updates which took forever. Not a network guru at all and religiously followed setup guided instructions, but the Time Machine backup option did not work at all on my Macs. Reset the unit and started over. New LevonoEMC Storage manager could not locate the unit on my network, but typing in the IP address on my browser got me to the server. Set everything up all over again. Things are better, but still not where I'd like them to be. At least I seem to be able to contact the server and copy files there. Time Machine backups are still not working normally. I've searched the documentation and support forums to no avail. Will have to see what it looks like on my Windoze machines.
Unpacked, noting the packaging was excellent as box was ripped open but unit safe inside thick Styrofoam. I used 4 WE Red 2TH drives, installing was simple and quick. Powered on, disks formatted in RAID 5 quickly, installing software fast and everything auto detects in windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit. Very fast read and write speeds. Unit is quiet, large LCD constantly shows you updates and current backup progress. This is a no brainer, buy for reliable backup and media storage.
Awesome, no problem so far7/26/2012
The speed is fantastic, the aesthetics of the unit is attractive and the built in server features are truly excellent. The NAS came empty and the CD had all the required software. The setup was simple and connecting to my work place network was easy. Setting the drives inside the enclosure is fun, all that is needed is a hand screwdriver. The drive trays can be slid back and the screws can hold the drives in place. A simple NAS that does not give much of trouble.
