Very poor FM reception, adaquate otherwise8/8/2011
This radio has very poor FM reception compared to several other radios in the house. This includes the radio it was supposed to replace. I have moved the unit from place to place with no improvement in reception. The CD player works well. The alarm function and other functions are chosen from several input buttons that are not real well marked and have multiple uses. Once working the CD works well. The ipod function worked with my touch although, again finding that function was challenging. I would not trust it as a get you up on time radio. It is attractive, large and to some dismay the blue back light is bright enough to keep you up and can not be dimmed. If you want a cd player or ipod player for the kitchen this is your unit.
very versatile alarm clock/radio/cd/ipod dock. it is small in foot print, but appears sleek and is nicely put together. good speakers. still learning it... Update: This Alarm clock has an audio out and an audio in port. This is extremely useful. I have remote speakers through out my house and was able to easily hook up the broadcaster for the remote speakers to the audio out. I now use this alarm clock to listen to my music, audio books, and even the radio throughout the house, while I am completing house work or just relaxing after work. I especially like that I can now listen to my music as I am getting ready for work in the morning--in the bathroom, kitchen and bedroom. very nice unit and much more versatile than I originally expected.
There are so few decent clock radios with CD players in them left these days, that I found myself wanting to like this unit as much as I could. One thing that I can confirm that other reviewers were saying is that radio reception is not all that great and the sound is really nothing to write home about. However, for me the biggest (and final) check mark against it, is the brightness of the blue back lighting. It's just so bright that it's almost like having a lamp on, and there is no way to dim it. I will say the unit looks great, and very much like the clock radios with Ipod docks that they are putting out these days. Unfortunately I think the days of clock radios with CD players are numbered. My only hope is to find a new model that will accept flash drives. I've only tested one, a Timex. It worked decent enough but it was the display thing again that turned me off. This time, you could not read the digits from very far way.
