I have had 2 of these headsets, one gold, one black, for several years. The gold is easier to find when it falls under the sofa, but both are about as unattractive as any small rectangular block hanging from your ear. The headsets work well, as I have no problem hearing people, and they hear me relatively clearly as long as I can keep the microphone in contact with my cheek. In order to do that I need the earloop, and in fact have had to doctor the loop with a rubber band around its base, both to keep it on the headset (I've lost many of the loops), and to keep it from swiveling too much and allowing the microphone to lose contact with my cheek. With that minor mod this is a functional headset.
Lightweight and efficent6/19/2013
This is my third Jawbone headset and it is lighter and easier to use then the first two. The sound quality is good and the noise cancelation is the best feature.
My wife LOVES the gold bling bling! I love the quality of our conversations! This BT headset is the best overall we've used!
Best outgoing audio quality headset I've used10/26/2010
I have tried several bluetooth headsets including two different top of the line (at the time) Plantronics and a Belkin. My wife used to complain that she could not hear me when I was in the car and the air conditioning was on or the windows down. I purchased the Hero model of the Jawbone Icon for myself and she can now hear me without me having to turn off the AC or roll up the windows. I let my wife borrow it and she liked it enough that I purchased this 'Bombshell' model for her. Although it has the best outgoing audio quality for any headset I have tried, Initially, mine did not seem to have enough volume for the incoming audio. This has been fixed with a software upgrade. The only problem I have is that, after some time, the rubber ear piece starts to spin on the body of the headset. What this means is that when I put it into my ear and rotate it to 'lock' it in my ear, the headset spins but the rubber earpiece does not so it does not fit firmly. I have to use a slightly different method to keep the earpiece from spinning. However, after getting it in place it works fine. I may look into the custom ear pieces. The unit does come with an 'over the ear' clip, however, I personally hate those so I don't use it, however, my wife prefers this type. So, your mileage may vary ;-) The retail price is a bit expensive, however, overall, I would recommend it.
Found a better in-ear replacement that fits!8/19/2010
This is an update to my last review. I found some in-ear silicone tip replacements for the Jawbone. Believe it or not, they're from Bose! I was looking at my Bose in-ear silicone tips and I got the brilliant idea to try and see if the ear tip piece would fit on the Jawbone, amazingly it did! After a tiny bit of finagling, the ear tip slipped on good and tight, was extremely comfortable, stayed in my ear and was in good contact with my jaw! So I added the over-the-ear clip (Even though the JB fits good w/o it now, to me the ear clip is insurance that I will never lose it!) and widened the opening of the tip just a tiny bit with a pair of fine-tip scissors and I now have a beautiful snug, comfortable fit! I love everything about the Jawbone but those earbuds, they're really horrible! *Clean the tips with rubbing alcohol before you put them in your ear and make sure your ear is clean, that will also help it to stay in better.
