From the Publisher
Annotation Leadership, management, and motivational gurus prosper by finding new lessons in old places, and old lessons in new places. Like two sides of the same coin, both approaches define a long-established and highly popular publishing niche. "The Leadership Secrets of Attila the Hun," a runaway business bestseller in 1991, was an early example of the former. And Laura Beth Jones's "Jesus, CEO" is an example of the latter. The concept is hardly original. In 1925, a prominent advertising exectutive named Bruce Barton published a biography of Jesus entitled "The Man Nobody Knows". In the book, Jesus was presented as the "founder of modern business" and the apostles as the "greatest sales force in history," while the words of Jesus ("I must be about my Father's business.") served as the basis for the book's central thesis. Still, Jones's more recent entry brought the genre solidly into the modern era, calling forth a legion of imitators preaching leadership and management and using Jesus Christ as a model.
Editors Note Following the example of Jesus, a "CEO" who built a disorganized "staff" of twelve into a thriving enterprise, a handbook for corporate success details a fresh approach to motivating and managing others that translates to any business. Read by Laurie Beth Jones. Book available.
