I am new to the XBOX Kinect and dance games in general. Because Dance Central 2 and Just Dance 3 seemed to be the top two games in this category I purchased both at the same time, here is my comparison.
Song lists. Both games have approx 40 songs, the variety and styles are slightly different. In my house JD3 had the perfered song list however since song choice is very personal I suggest previewing the list yourself.
The dance move preview in Dance Central 2 is well implemented and allows you to look ahead to prepare for upcoming moves. This is especially useful for novices. This feature alone has made DC2 initially more popular than JD3 in my house. Overtime and for more experienced dancers this may be less of an issue.
When viewing the song list Just Dance 3 shows both difficulty (gears) and the intensity (sweat drops). This is VERY helpful so you can pick songs that match your skill level as well as the activity level you want at any given the time. Especially when you have been playing for some time and want a slower song to wind down. Unfortunately you cannot sort the song list by either of these attributes, this makes it difficult to scroll through the song list to chose based on difficulty or intensity. Still this is superior to DC2 as DC2 does not seem to provide a method of previewing the intensity level.
After its hugely successful predecessors game, the third installment of the JUST DANCE series has arrived - and this time it is also available for both the Xbox and the PS3 (you can thank UBISOFT being in financial trouble due to the overzealous DRM scheme they use in their PC releases). Anyway, this game comes with tons of fun and it will make you sweat while having it. If you are or feeling young, if you want to get your kids out of the couch or if you want to burn calories yourself, this is the game for you.
