There is an undocumented trick to get your modulator to tune to 87.9 fm. This radio station is almost NEVER used so the signal strength comes in really strong for modulating. To get your Kensington FM modulator to tune to 89.7 you have to hold down the two right station pre-sets buttons and then use the up/down tuner to go to 87.9. (it’s hard to do when driving). Then you have to tune your radio to 87.9 and you are set. The only hassle is that I have to reset the modulator each time I turn my car off. But the clarity is worth it. Other stations work well too, just not as well. iPod charging is great.

My lady was recently given an iPod Nano, so I snagged one of these for thirty-something bucks. Setting up is easy - find an unused frequency on your car radio, then tune the unit to the same frequency and press and hold a preset for a few seconds. That's it! The only thing that is missing is a way to mount the iPod on the dash somewhere (even a couple of Velcro pads will do), but that is a minor gripe.

mediocre sound quality

on 5/31/2007

I've never used a transmitter so maybe my expectations were unrealistic, but when I read the generally glowing reviews of this product, I thought it would at least be similar to my old cassette adapter. It's not. There's a fair amount of static regardless of which station I use, and the dynamic range and frequency response are nowhere near CD or even regular radio. It gets music to your car radio, but not much more. Definitely disappointing. Read More

Great performance on my boat

on 7/4/2007

I have been using Kensington transmitter/charger for more than a week now. I purchased it for my boat which is old enough that the stereo system does not have an mp3 input. Since I use it when I am anchored I do not have issues car drivers may find as they go in and out of areas that may have competing FM signals. Very good sound quality and stereo separation. My only complaint is the LED display is a bit hard to read in bright light or off angle, Read More
