My Toshiba A65 Satellite laptop was running sluggishly, especially when I switched from one application to another. The Windows task manager showed that my system was using around 500 MB of RAM, which meant that the 512 MB laptop memory was maxed out. Buying this 512 MB DIMM solved the problem. I've now got all my apps loaded in memory and have several hundred megs of RAM free for Windows to use for its system cache. As a result nothing has to be swapped out to disk and my system is snappy again.
Be aware that a 512 MB Toshiba A65 has 256 MB built-in and one DIMM slot with a replaceable 256 MB DIMM, so if you get this 512 MB DIMM, you'll have to remove the existing 256 MB DIMM and replace it with the 512 MB DIMM. That will give you 768 MB RAM total (not 1024 MB as you might expect if you order a 512 MB DIMM for a laptop that already has 512 MB RAM). Still the extra 256 MB RAM should make a big difference.
