Works well so far11/24/2012
Benched two of these UFDs on Windows with ATTO Disk Benchmark. With 32KiB test patterns, averaged 5.17MiB/s write and 15.35 MiB/s read, increasing to peaks of 7.72 MiB/s write at 128KiB and 20.54MiB/s at 256KiB. Capless design a plus, construction seems reasonably solid, reviews elsewhere seem to indicate better-than-average to very good reliability in terms of defect rate.
its Good and shipped on time.great value for price paid
Great flash drive9/8/2011
This product arrived quickly and was a great price. Some have commented on the cap (or lack of) but I prefer this design.
great usb drive9/2/2011
Kingston has never failed me before and that is why I continue to use it. In the past my todler even got ahold of one and used it like a binky.... I let it dry and still worked great. If that is not durable I do not know what is. And this case is larger but there is no cap to loose
I had not one problem with this product. Came brand new. Put it in my computer and used it to backup files and it works like a charm. Loads into the computer with ease. Great price!
Handy product to have. Easy to use. Plug and play!
I have been NOT only using but selling and recommending to my loyal customer. It can't be go wrong with the size 8GB, and the great deal price wise. If you ever need some extra space, it is highly recommended for beginner, advance or in the middle to take advantage of this
Consider it Capless7/2/2011
I'm sure it works fine if you can keep from damaging the connector. The integral closure mechanism slides over the connector to close, but It won't stay closed. You might as well have a standard flash drive with no cap. If it weren't so cheap I'd have returned it, but it wasn't worth the trouble. I threw it away rather than be tempted to use it and lose my data. An exposed connector makes it too subject to damage and contamination, thus unreliable.
I got this when it was 9.99 w/free shipping, worth the price, so I got 2! Item is well built & cap is easy to click on or off if you tied 2 of them together from the end.
I got this when it was $9.99 w/ free shipping. Couldn't pass it up at that price. A lot of people a complaining about the "cover" not being very good. I look at it as protection from the end getting bent or damaged rather than a dust cover. I can always do the old Nintendo cartridge dust blow. I actually find the sliding cover kind of addicting and find myself playing with it. "It's a secret spy camera!" In the end, all that matters is that it does what it's supposed to which is provide me with 8Gb of portable storage. It does that great.
The convenient design protects the USB end. The flash drive performs as expected, and it is speedy enough. The price was attractive. I am delighted.
Great flash drive, great price.12/19/2010
Great drive. Works great. Does everything it said it would do. Just wish it was a little smaller. But, I would definitely but it again. Bought 2 the first time around.
Great flash drive12/19/2010
This is a great drive especially for the price. A little thick for carrying around all the time but it great.
Does what it says and easy to use, carry and transfer files, data and pictures. Would certainly buy again when the need arises. Recommended to friends.
I'm not at all impressed with the so called sliding cover. When holding this drive in your hand and trying to insert it into a USB port, the outer cover wants to slide shut. So, you have to insert this drive by holding or push from the back end of the drive. Not cool! Everything else works fine and it does what it's supposed to do. Note: I don't lose drive covers and never have so I would gladly trade this drive for a "real" drive. Your call
Excellent price for a great product! The sliding function provides ease of access to the usb plug and you don't have to worry about losing a cap that doesn't fit so well. The one downfall of the sliding feature is that the end of the usb plug is exposed to everything. Maybe they should provide you with a rubber insert for the opening of the plug or design a flap that closes over the opening when the device is closed.
The drive has worked great since I bought it. It's not the speediest, but for the price you cannot complain. The only gripe I have is that it can be difficult to insert it without the connector cover sliding back into place. One-handed insertion is difficult. Great drive otherwise.
Good Value for the Price11/9/2010
Drive works with no problems thus far + on time shipping......cap definitely was not designed with actual functionality in mind; the small rivets that normally hold a cap in place are too small allowing unwanted movement. I keep in a separate holder so not affected by this feature dramatically......Tested drive with other computers including windows xp, vista, and my 7 with no issues on compatibility...Music Album at 80.3 mb took 9 seconds...Folder containing 1.25 gb of random apps took 3 1/2 minutes...4.57 gb ISO file took 5 min System Specs K8M800 AMD Sempron 2800+ 2 X 1 gb DDR @ 200 mhz NVIDIA GeForce FX 5700LE 256 mb Maxtor 160 GB w/8 mb buffer
Great Value, Flawed Design11/9/2010
This was definitely a great value because of the low price, but I had higher expectations from Kingston. Two main design flaws: 1) The sliding function to access the usb connector opens way too easily, thus exposing it to anything that's in your pocket or purse; 2) the drive itself is so thick that it cannot be plugged into one of two usb ports that are configured top/bottom if there is another item plugged into the other usb port. As a flash drive, it works great. Just wish Kingston did a better job designing it so it could be used easier.
Capless? Think again!11/7/2010
This product claims a clever design that eliminates the customary cap of the USB connector. The advantage is supposed to be an end to the problematic and dreaded lost cap. That, aside from a great price when it was on sale, is the reason that I bought this flash drive. However, to be completely honest about it, the design is a joke. The "integrated cap" is nothing more than a sliding cover that only masks the connector structure. It does nothing to cover the all-important opening at the end of the connector where the electrical contacts are housed. The cap on a flash drive is there to prevent junk from going inside the connector and interfering with the electrical connections. If you have ever carried one of these things in your pocket without the cap, then you may have some experience with some pocket fuzz getting inside the connector and preventing the drive from making good contact when inserted into a USB port. The Kingston capless design leaves the door wide open to that type of problem. It is strictly a cosmetic design and is NOT a cap by any measure. The drive performs quite well. Its read/write speeds are as advertised and at the higher range of the G2 spec. At 4 or 8 GBs these drives are very attractive for the price, and provide reasonably large capacities for moving data around conveniently. In summary, these drives perform quite well, but you have to make sure that you find some way of keeping the connector clean since it is completely exposed.
You get what you pay for11/1/2010
Works fine as flash memory. Has cheap plastic feeling. Opening & closing mechanism is very bad. Design flaw. Any pressure on the side of the flash drive (opposite usb connector) will push out the usb connector because there is no locking mechanism. So in your pocket, purse or bag the usb connector will probably get pushed out and exposed. Benefits of not having a cap is nullified.
I wanted a capless USB drive, this one was disappo10/31/2010
so I got this one. I figured it was a good brand, it was capless (which was the number one feature on my list)and it was on sale. So no brainer.Well it is capless but the way it which it retracts into itself is weak,so if it is in my pocket it just slides back out waaaaay too easily so 90% of the time when I take it out of my pocket the USB connector is exposed which defeats the whole purpose of getting a capless design.
