Customer Reviews of Kingston V300 240GB 2.5" 7mm SATA III Solid State Drive (SSD)
Misleading product description3/27/2015
The ad for the product indicates it's "Available with software that makes it easy to install" . While it may be available on other products, this product does not include any software, mounting hardware or installation instructions. The bottom line is this is a barebones SSD drive - . If you don't already own another drive that came with software, you probably don't want to consider this drive.
Nice SSD for an average computer2/2/2015
It is nice SSD in general. The price is also reasonable. The SSD is stable for most of the time. Sometimes, it will slow down or make my computer halt for a minute. If you would like to have the fastest SSD for your new computer, this one might not be your option.
Kingston V300 240GB - Pretty good drive1/9/2015
For the price, it's a pretty good drive. Got it on sale for about $80. Doesn't come with any disk copy / backup software (like Acronis). But found a free software and was able to create an image of my laptop hard-drive onto this. Make sure to de-fragment and clean-up the hard drive before copying. I copied both C and D (backup partition). Swapped the HD with this SSD and wola - the booting time dropped from 3 -5 miins to about 30 secs! Even the internet navigations and youtube streaming are much better now.
Fast Affordable Drive12/18/2014
Purchased two of these unit for future PC builds. Expecting great load times and great black friday price!
I just installed this SSD so I haven't gotten a chance to take it through it's paces. It's the second Kingston SSD I've bought and I've been happy with both as of now. Fast and economical.
SSD at 42 cent per gig7/13/2014
This drive is fast. Very solid and cheap. Buying one is a no brainer if it is time to upgrade.
Replaced the HHD of an old i3 with this SSD. Cloned to this SSD the selected partitions in a 500 GB HHD using a freeware, Macrium Reflect. Opened the back cover of the laptop, swappped the drives. No issues what-so-ever with the SSD. The old i3 laptop runs like a new one. :)
Replaced Netbook HD with this drive!5/29/2014
I bought this drive a few months ago and replaced the mechanical drive in an eMachines Netbook, and installed Ubuntu 14.04 on it. It was easy to install using the included spacer. It has run fine ever since and runs much cooler! I'm very happy with my purchase and consider it a great value!
Excellent Solid State Drive, Plug and play, super simple to clone to, put it into my flight simulator setup and makes a world of difference, definitely recommended piece of hardware.
This ssd works well with my windows 7 desktop. I assumed it can with an adapter, but it did not. Otherwise, no problem with delivery and performance. I have had no problems with Rakuten or Kingston products in the past. This ssd was much less expensive than Samsung.
Decent SDD Especially For the Price4/23/2014
I’ve use two of the 120GB versions for PC builds and they speed was very fast. They are not top tier SSDs but would satisfy 90%+ of PC users. And I would purchase them again.
Bare Drive For Laptop, Should be Disclosed4/16/2014
The description says "is available in kits with all the accessories needed for an effortless transition to the latest technology." However, this product is not one of those kits. It did come packaged in sealed retail packaging.
SSD works fast, like Kingston brand products
if you own a desktop computer and it's a few years old, the cheapest way to rejuvenate it is to get an SSD to boot up. if you have an Apricorn plug-in for SSD's you can clone what you need to boot right away. well, this Kingston offered on Rakuten at such a delightful price handles any operating system with a good 200 gb to spare using the clunky mechanical drive for storage. Kingston is a reputable maker, so I had no qualms about using it as my boot drive. you can too.
Fast drive; great price7/17/2013
Bought this SSD for my wife's 2-year old notebook computer; installing was easy. After I cloned the original hard drive I took it out and put the Kingston back in. After switching the computer on, I was asked for a restart and after that my wife had a super-fast intel Core i-3 computer. Very impressive. Good drive. Great price. Happy
