Annotation:
Evocative black-and-white photographs of Brooklyn form an imaginative background for the exuberantly expressive color cartoons of these wildly funny characters. Daddy's trip to the laundromat with toddler Trixie becomes a hysterical disaster when Knuffle Bunny, her favorite toy, suddenly disappears. The child's desperate attempts to communicate the catastrophe are misunderstood by her oblivious father, with contorted facial expressions captured beautifully by author Mo Willems's simple line drawings. The joyous climax is Trixie's first intelligible phrase, almost shouted when the toy is finally retrieved by a determined Daddy. Willems worked for nine years as a writer and animator for SESAME STREET, won nine Emmy Awards for his television work and a 2004 Caldecott Honor for DON'T LET THE PIGEON DRIVE THE BUS!, and created Nickelodeon's THE OFF-BEATS, Cartoon Network's SHEEP IN THE BIG CITY, and the "Suzie Kabloozie" series on SESAME STREET. His other books include THE PIGEON FINDS A HOT DOG and the instructive TIME TO PEE! A 2005 Caldecott Honor Book.
