He's Almost the Man of Steel!
Kids WB! Brings you a new series inspired by the DC Comics legend Superman. In LEGION OF SUPER HEROES a team of superheroes from the 31st century heads back in time to enlist Superman s help in battling their nemeses the Fatal Five. But when they arrive in the Man of Steel s hometown Smallville they discover that they ve miscalculated a bit. Instead of a powerful confident Superman they find the introverted insecure young adult Clark Kent whose abilities need fine-tuning and who knows nothing of the legend that comic book history says he ll become. It takes some effort but Brainiac 5 Bouncing Boy and Saturn Girl convince Clark that he s special and may be able to help them. Although he sincerely doubts that he s the Superman they keep talking about his curiosity is piqued enough that he goes back to the future with them. The legion itself is a group of well-meaning undisciplined and unpredictable super powered young adults who just happen to be the Universe s only hope. The Legionnaires are still light-years away from becoming the seasoned (and cynical) pros of the Justice League.Running Time: 89 min. Format: DVD MOVIE. Genre: CHILDREN. Rating: NR. Age: 085391150046. UPC: 085391150046. Manufacturer No: 115004

"...nicely fills in the hole that was left when "Teen Titans" went off the air...a fantastic series and a worthy addition to the Warner/DC animated line.  David Cornelius, DVD Talk
"...looks downright amazing. Colors really pop and the overall image is clean and crisp...I love the theme for this show! Simply put, it rocks!  Kent Dixon, DVD Verdict

The Sci-Fi Movie Page 8 of 10
The Legion of Superheroes was never as big a superhero team-up comic book title such as JLA or The Avengers. The title however had a dedicated following since its creation in 1958 that kept it going throughout the years, but it's still surprising that they managed to get their own Saturday morning TV cartoon show...In a Jetsons version of the 31st century, a group of teenaged superheroes travel back in time to enlist the legendary Superman to help them battle a team of powerful supervillains...Long-time fans of the comic will recognise the characters as an amalgamation of their comic book counterparts throughout the years...Unfortunately some of the original costume designs weren't kept, but then again this is an all-ages cartoon series...The animation is highly stylized (it took us one whole episode to get used to those elongated necks to be honest) in the same way that other WB Kids shows such as Teen Titans, Batman Beyond and JLA are. But the tone is quite light, the pacing fast and the writing okay. Plus the futuristic cityscapes and designs are always fun. If you're into superhero comics then you can safely watch Legion of Superheroes with your little 'uns...Let's face up to it: kids' cartoons have come a long way since the days of Superfriends.
