I have never heard yet of a dissatisfied Lexar user, and now I have joined their ranks. From checking various PDA user forums, I knew to avoid SanDisk SD cards and decided to get a Viking 256MB SD card (have a couple of Viking CF cards and they always worked great). Unfortunately, the Viking SD card was DOA (defective upon arrival) -- gave MULTIPLE errors when writing large files to it; write speeds were extremely slow. So I did what I always heard other "previously-burned" users say: get a Lexar, those always work great. I did and it does. Fast, never a write error, perfectly reliable. Reliability is worth paying a little extra for -- and, in this case, it really was only a little more. Will just echo what everyone else has said, "You can't go wrong with a Lexar card."
