Pretty good bang for the buck
I purchased one of these Jump Gear units with a Jump Drive 256 about two months ago for a combined price of $80, which represents pretty good value. I use it to listen to lectures downloaded from the net. The unit works as advertised, but the sound drops out now and then while walking. The Player works better when held in the hand - which allows for your fingers to be physically wrapped around the Jump Drive cartridge, and keeps it more firmly in place - than when allowed to move around in a pocket or in a bag. Battery life is working out to 12-15 hours so far. The unit carries a 2 year warranty, which is considerable longer than anyone else was offering on a comparable product. Sound seems perfectly acceptable on either spoken word or music - and unit drives Etymotic ER-4S canalphones well enough. It comes with a pair of earbuds, but I've never used them - and, hence, can't vouch for the sound through them. For $80, it beat the hassle of having to first burn to CD any lecture that I wanted to hear while traveling.
