Customer Reviews of LG AN-WF100 Wi-Fi USB Adaptor
Products delivered on time and work great! we are very pleased
I purchased this to work with my LG LDC (42 LD550). I had a WiFi system set up already, which was with a router that works on the "G" protocol, so not the quickest. However, the set up with the TV was very straightforward--simply plugged it into the TV's USB port and followed the directions in the TV manaul (and displayed on the TV). All you really need is the Key or password to access your WiFi set up and you are in! I was pleasantly surprised that everything worked as advertised. With my "G" router I was able to stream NetFlix movies to my TV wirelessly with no delays, buffering, etc. Worked like a charm from my router to my TV, which is about 25-30 ft away, through two interior walls.
Easy to install and works like a charm3/23/2012
i got a LG netcast 42" tv off an ad from craigslist and wanted to connect it with my wireless router (just to avoid the hassle of connecting the lan cable). Its as simple as plug and play with this thing.
I LOVE it!!!12/22/2011
Bought this adapter for my lg 60" pz750 and instead having to use my blue ray player, I can use all the apps and internet functions right from the tv. The wireless remote that comes with the tv is finally used. I never used that pointing remote before until now. I am able to watch netflix, hulu, and even take a yoga class online with this adapter. I LOVE IT!
Great WiFi adapter....for the LG TV7/14/2011
Just plug it in & it works...
Super simple.... plugged it in. Put in my WEP key and presto! done. It realy was that easy
This device is compact like a flashdrive and works with my D-Link router with WEP security perfectly. I have no signal loss or dropout and the quality of movies on my LG 55LE5400 is perfect. Those experiencing video issues may have a distance to router problem and excessive blockage of signal by walls and other electronic signals. My setup is direct with little chance of signal deflection or blockage as nothing is going to always work perfectly in all environments. You need to see if your signal will have to go through several walls and deal with cordless phones or other wireless devices. My install went just as the instructions stated and after entering my WEP password it automatically entered all of the other settings. I have had no problems with router setup as a couple had, nor have I had any internet issues as all of the programs are off the internet and the quality of NETFLIX video is super and all other available programs connected with no problem. Great product that can save the time, money and effort of running cable if it is not convenient. Cost of the item was almost half of what other stores asked. If you don't have issues setting up an XBOX(which can be a struggle) or using other wireless devices with your router then I would certainly recommend this antenna for your LG!!
That was easy1/1/2011
Setup was amazingly easy. plug and play.
LG, you can do better12/27/2010
Bought this since my 'Wi-fi ready' LG TV wasn't really ready without it. Now that I have it, I plugged it in, set it up, and can't stream a movie. Thinking it could be a setting, I called LG for support. They proceeded to tell me that my router is to slow. I explained that I wirelessly stream HD movies to my laptop all the time and that it is a brand new Linksys N Router. They then said I have too many things connected to the router. I told them I disconnected everything but the TV to make sure that wasn't the case. They then put me on hold for 25 mins. They made sure that when they were going to transfer me to another person that could help, I was disconnected. At this point I am going to try to send it back for a replacement if I don't get the run around for that. Good luck
I ordered this for our LG 60PK550. Arrived quickly. Plugged it in the side usb port. Connected to the network easily. Done. Everything is working exactly as I had hoped.
Easy Ordering-Good Product12/19/2010
I was able to get a good price with free delivery so it made it worth going wireless. First time set up and use is a bit of a pain - -software updates made such that I had to re-enter the code to my router (new number). Not sure if that means I got old stock. Other then that a good product. I was catching Netflix with great clarity.
I purchased this for my new LED TV model # LG 42LE5500 and using it with my stock AT&T digital cable/wireless network. It found it fast, I typed in my SSID and was up in running in about a minute after the TV updated it's firmware to the latest version. Works like a charm and over half off from the suggested purchase price at LG.com! The only negative was the shipper was a little slow...took a week for something that should take 3-4 days!
Good but not fast12/10/2010
The item is everything they said but if your router is one level below the connection is not as fast as it should. The seller was good and shipped item fast.
Wi-fi adapter good, but TV. . . is so,so.12/4/2010
Internet applications are meager and picture quality on the TV, 42le5400, is often milky, for lack of a better word. Netflix, YouTube, Picasa access is great. The Wi-fi adapter was okay.
Works great - Good price - Some patience required!11/7/2010
Had some probs as others with the wireless connection. The dongle would find my wireless network but not connect. In a nutshell, once I reset the router and rebooted - all worked well. I spent a lot of time entering my WPA key before the reset. Reset first and you should be ok! Hope this helps. Oh, streams Netflix flawlessly!
Great price, works well.11/3/2010
I purchased a 50" plasma "wireless ready" LG TV, and because I am a savvy internet shopper, I was able to get the TV at a screaming deal... Well, "Internet Ready" always means that you have to buy something else, and this is what you need to make it happen... Not wanting to run Cat5 or Cat 6 cable, this is the option you need... (Since I did get a deal, I won't complain that I needed to buy an adapter, and Buy.com made that purchase better by knocking more than half off the suggested price.)... I run Wireless "N" for faster speeds to enable better video streaming. This USB adapter supports wireless "N"... One configuration tip: In my network, for wireless security, I run WPA2 AES, and hide my SSID... After installing the USB adapter, following the instructions in the TV manual, at first, I could not get the TV to "see" my network... To get this device to connect, I needed to change the SSID setting on the wireless network to broadcast visible (not hidden)... Once I did that, the device connected, and LG Netcast works great. (I used the "passcode" method, getting the to to "handshake".)... After that initial configuration, I was able to again change the SSID to hidden, and the TV was able to continue to see the network, even though the SSID was hidden... Hope this will help others.
Plug and Play - works great!10/31/2010
The unit itself works great and was plug and play (note I run DLink routers). My only complaint is that this should have come with the TV. But it works great for streaming from NetFlix, etc. A must have for anyone with a "state of the art" home theater. Don't forget to buy the optical cable to send sound FROM your TV to your receiver. Absolute best prices are @ PIMFG.COM. You'll want the Toslink Cable.
I've never seen a network interface product that is so unreliable as to be useless. My wireless router is provided by Verizon and works with no problems with several other wireless devices including a cell phone, a laptop, a TiVo box, and a Wii game box. The configuration interface provided by my LG TV is pretty bad; while configuring the wireless interface, if the connect fails, the WEP key that was entered is lost and you have to re-enter it. To get the connection to work, I had to disable shared-key authentication on my router. Once the interface is connected, it appears to drop the connection some time later as I observed while attempting to view photos from my PC on the LG TV. I've worked with network interfaces and software for years and clearly LG needs help in this area. Don't waste your money on this; try to use an Ethernet cable connection instead.
Great deal at this price10/19/2010
This is the same original LG Wi-Fi dongle sold in our local electronics store at about half the price. It immediately connected to my Airport Extreme router and works great. Streaming for Netflix is seamless which was the main reason we purchased this accessory.
Impossible to connect with WPA or WEP enabled9/7/2010
This adapter would only ever connect to my wireless network if I disabled WEP or WPA. Thinking it was an old router that was the problem, I even bought a brand-new router and this adapter still wouldn't connect if I had WPA or WEP security enabled. The error message was also ZERO help as it only said "Connect Failed". Luckily the new router was able to accept a PIN to connect instead of a WPA key, because that is the ONLY way this adapter would connect when security was enabled on the network. A wi-fi enabled LG Blu-Ray player connected to both the old and new routers, by comparison, with absolutely no issues. SO, this adapter cost me way over $150 by the time I had to buy a new router to get it to connect. NOT RECOMMENDED!!!!!!!
Outstanding product and service!9/6/2010
I bought this adaptEr in order to access Netcast on my new LG tv and other than rebooting my wireless router, it worked right away out of the box. The price can't be beat at Buy.com and I received it in good time.
Great price and received quickly8/24/2010
Initially, I did not plan to connect my LG TV to the internet because the regular price was around $80 so I was waiting for the price to come down. When I saw the price at Buy.com for 48.36 with no sales tax and no shipping and handling, I had to get it right away. I received the product immediately and installed it the same day. Installing it on the TV was easy since it used the USB connection. I had trouble setting it up and got error messages each time I tried to connect to my network. After about 3 hours of trouble shooting, I decided to bring the TV next to my router and connected the TV using the cables: I had no problems. I then tried to use the wireless connection and it resolved. The problem was the unit was too far from the wireless router. I was relieved that it was not a defective product. I got some USB extension cables so that I can receive the signal. Next step, setup a Wireless N network.
