Customer Reviews of LG N1A1DD1W Super-Multi 1TB NAS Network Hard Drive
Decent workhorse NAS for the $$7/19/2012
This is the second of these N1A1DD1W NAS units we've put to work here. For the low price, these work just fine for routine file access and storage. No doubt there are faster units at the higher price points, but these have been extremely reliable for us and plenty good enough for the purpose of centralized file archiving.
Good deal - be ready for patience on install4/9/2012
Great buy; but the software is a little clunky. It works as advertised, just be patient on install.
questionable bundled software2/21/2012
Overall this is a reasonable product for a basic NAS drive. I used it for DLNA and file sharing at home. Don't use any of the bundled software. It is mostly useless, confusing, and somewhat overlapping. I use Window drive map and FileZilla for moving files. It works fine. I use the webmenu to manage users. It would have been nicer if it can display movies in different folders. It gets to be very unmanageable when you have a few hundred movies. Music is fine. Nero software is ok - not too useful.
Nice but inadequate backup software included2/14/2012
I purchased this knowing it was not made by Seagate. (I have had two external hard drives die on me, one by Maxtor and the other Iomega, both made by Seagate.) I have three computers networked. The LG works fine so far. I am a little disappointed that I had to purchase Nero BackItUp, as the software that came with the hard drive was inadequate.
died after 5 months2/4/2012
died after 5 months and never worked with lion timemachine. Buyer Beware!!!
This is the first NAS drive I have purchased. Previously I had only used USB backup dirves. I connected this to my switch in my home network and it was recognized by my windows 7 machines and my XP machines. The browser interface is really great for setting up the drive. The media share I was able to use with U-Verse. I did not need to load any special software. I just dropped my music into the "multimedia" share and began streaming, It was one of the easiest installs I have done. It has been running now for 3 months with no issues.
I have LG 47LW5600 smart TV and I am using Cisco E4200 Router for my home. E4200 has USB connection at the back side to support USB server system but it just does not work very well. (Long story to tell but it does not work well anyway). So, I purchase Go Flex 2TB (Seagate) NAS and connected it to E4200. That support UPNP so my LG TV can access to it without problem and streaming movies quite well. But, copying tons of data into that NAS from my main desktop computer freezes the NAS quite often. So, finally, I decided to test LG NAS N1A1 on the exact same setting and system. IT JUST WORK GREAT!
