I've had this router in service for a few months now and it continues to do the job with no problems. This is the third Cisco/Linksys router I've purchased over the past 8 years or so. The new software interface and tools are much improved over the older models. It is an attractive unit, however I wish it could be stood on end to save desk space like the earlier model I had. I am a little disappointed in the range, I thought it might be better than my old GX2 model, but it seems about the same.
The setup for the wireless router was straight forward. This router was purchased for business use, It had to have a static IP address with specific network settings. After going through the setup and configuring the router with the correct network info the router would not produce a wireless signal at all. Cisco spent 4+ hours assisting me with this & couldn't resolve it. They advised me to return it. DSA was helpful in helping me with this. You have to e-mail DSA for support.
All my network gear is Linksys / Cisco. This router covers my entire living area (across several walls) with full signal strength. Easy to set up quickly, powerful router management software that covers most details. For deeper tweaks you can use the router's HTTP-based management and setup tool which lets you tweak literally every setting of your network. Refurbished by Cisco, looks like new. Can't beat the price. Works well with high data rate on Comcast Xfinitiy. Highly recommended.
Since this isn't written anywhere - I received v.2 of this fine (cheap) router, so extra memory. Always been a fan of Linksys. Kinda miss the old blue on black, stackable design of the WRT54G, but this one is nice in that it isn't a frikkin light show like some routers - sits there quietly and you don't even know it is there. Also, DD-WRT works just fine on this - you can even add the jumbo version.
This unit was purchased for a friend and when I attempted to install the unit it didn't go very smoothly. The only written instructions that came in the package said to install the disk before making any connections. For some reason the software wouldn't load forcing me to resort to manual setup. The disk could be read so it was possible to access the PDF user manual and read steps for doing a manual setup. It all worked in the end.
