Can't go wrong with Linksys9/6/2012
I have used hundreds of networking products over the years and none compare to the reliability and features of a Linksys. While they are trying to automate setup for the average home user, it gets a bit more aggravating for manual set up. Most people assume you have to install software to configure a router...not true. However, once configured and running this performs flawlessly. Have NEVER seen any compatibility issues. A+
This was very easy to set up and get working. Works great and increased the speed and size of my network.
Not too bad4/1/2012
Bought this to replace a Belkin N1 (disco'd by Belkin) router because I needed something with gigabit and high speeds. So far it hasn't been bad. It was a bit confusing at first changing the channels on the 2 bands (Cisco documentation isn't much to look at) but once I worked through the quarks it's been pretty nice. I don't like that Cisco only supports 2 (both pay-for) Dynamic DNS providers.
The new installation CD was pretty much of a snap. I used the Easy Setup Key on my laptop & it worked fine (direct connect to the E3200 Router). Just had a bit of a problem getting the Easy Setup Key to carry over from the direct connect to the wireless. I disconnected the wired connection & turned on the wireless switch. I had to pop the Easy Setup Key USB device into the USB port & then the wireless setup fine... it doesnt work fine with the dell inspiron laptops. they cant detect wifi
Nothing about this is easy. Not compatible with 2 of 5 computers on my network or my wirless printer. Several live chats with Cisco & many, many hour later I threw the thing away. I went back to the old Netgear router, it may not be as quick as the latest generation but it works with all of my hardware. Do not waste your time or money.
Cisco comes out on top again.4/30/2011
These new Cisco E series of routers are going to get a lot of converts from older routers. I was going back & forth whether to get an E2500 or E3200. I replaced a Linksys WRT54GL. I remembered that I did want to move my My Book storage from just on my PC to sharable on my network so I switched to the E3200. I had to pop the Easy Setup Key USB device into the USB port & then the wireless setup fine. I'm good for both Wireless & direct connect off the laptop now. By the way, the E3200 picked up my wired printer when I plugged it in the router & it started printing a couple documents that were in the queue while the old router was off line. Couldn't get the External My Book to want to work on the USB External connection. I had a pain with the Western Digital My Book & drivers when I first got it more than a few years ago. Maybe just need more research with Western Digital or the Cisco site.
