I bought this USB adapter because I use the one PCMCIA slot on my laptop for a USB 2.0. Loaded everything in about 2 minutes and I was really excited when first using the WUSB12 at a starbucks hotspot and got a 1 mbps download speed from the parking lot about 150 feet away. Went to a friend's house and got a low signal about 50 feet away from the Linksys wireless router with about 300 kbps download. It didn't compare to the linksys PCMCIA card which would get the full 1 mbps download from about 75 feet away. I returned it and got the Netgear MA401 and am using it at home with the MR814 router with no problems with unstable signal strength.

Before purchasing the WUSB12 I tried the D-link DWL-120 and the Netgear MA101 and none of those two offered windows xp support, so I had all kinds of trouble with them. Luckily I was able to return them and then I bought the WUSB12 that has and excellent quality, it is very user-friendly and best of all for the first time i was getting excellent reception. I really think that the price is a little bit to high for what it is, but once you tried it you have to recognize that it is very well worth it.
