Annotation:
Authored by founder Dave Isay, LISTENING IS AN ACT OF LOVE is a compilation of selected interviews from the first 10,000 sessions of the StoryCorps oral history project, in which ordinary people, usually in the company of friends and relatives, tell their stories in a soundproof studio at New York's Grand Central Station. The stories enter the historical record by being placed in the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress, and the participants receive a CD of their experience. The compelling stories in LISTENING IS AN ACT OF LOVE are drawn from every one of the 50 states, and are organized under general themes. Each story presents a unique perspective, and collectively they provide a wide-ranging and inspiring panoramic study of life in these United States.
