Author Info
Harlan Coben
Harlan Coben has been the recipient of Edgar, Shamus, and Anthony awards--the first writer ever to win all three of those major prizes for mystery writing. He is best known for his thrillers featuring Myron Bolitar, a sports and entertainment agent who is sometimes pressed into service as a detective by his clients. Like his main character, Coben was born and raised in Northern New Jersey. After graduating from Amherst College in 1984 with a degree in political science, he began working in a travel business founded by his grandfather. Coben wrote the first Bolitar novel, DEAL BREAKER, in 1995; his books have since made regular appearances on the bestseller lists, and his work has been translated into some 40 languages. TELL NO ONE, a stand-alone novel published in 2001, was later made into an award-winning French film whose main character is a pediatrician, as is Coben's wife. In 2011, Coben published SHELTER, the first in a new series featuring Mickey Bolitar, Myron's nephew, and which won yet another Edgar award--this time in the category of Best Young Adult Novel. Coben has said of his writing process, "I don't outline. I usually know the ending before I start. I know very little about what happens in between. It's like driving from New Jersey to California. I may go Route 80, I may go via the Straits of Magellan or stopover in Tokyo--but I'll end up in California."
Praise
"[A] perfect 10....This explosively fast thriller will leave fans clamoring for more." (starred review)
From the Publisher
Annotation Harlan Coben does not let up. This 10th addition to his popular series follows on the heels of the fabulous LONG LOST, and things just continue to get better and better. Former athlete turned private investigator, Myron Bolitar, receives a visit from a former client who has a new problem for him. The woman, who had been a teenage tennis star, is pregnant, but rumors are flying that her child does not belong to her rock-star husband. When her husband disappears, Bolitar takes the case, which proves just complicated enough to make this into one delightfully twisty detective tale.
Editors Note When a pregnant tennis star reports that her rock-artist husband has gone missing amid scandalous rumors, Myron Bolitar is forced to confront deep secrets about his client's past while struggling with fatherhood roles in his personal life.
