Lost Boys (Blu-ray) (1987)
|Warner Brothers The Lost Boys (Blu-ray)Sam and his older brother Michael are average, everyday teens. But after they move with their mother to peaceful Santa Clara, California, things mysteriously begin to change. Michael's not himself lately. And Mom's not going to like what he's turning into. "The Lost Boys" reshapes the vampire tradition, deftly mixing heart-pounding terror, rib-tickling laughs and a body-gyrating rock soundtrack. Under Joel Schumacher's direction, a marvelous cast - Jason Patric, Jami Gertz, Kiefer Sutherland, Corey Feldman, Corey Haim, Barnard Hughes, Edward Herrmann, and Dianne Wiest - stakes you to gleefully ghoulish entertainment.|
"One of the best thrillers of our time...rocks as well as it rolls... Clint Morris, MovieHole
"...a cult classic...a solid technical treatment of a movie about teenage vampires getting melted, exploded and impaled... David Johnson, DVD Verdict
"...remains a supremely watchable example of something the '80s did right. Empire
"Gothic style, humor and sexy stars -- a cult classic. James Sanford, Kalamazoo Gazette
"...a horror movie that's funny without making fun of itself and scary without trying to make you sick. Mick LaSalle, San Francisco Chronicle
"Part horror, part comedy, The Lost Boys is a vampire thriller that brings some interesting twists to the genre... TV Guide
Editor's NoteOne of the better vampire films about two new-in-town brothers who discover a local gang of motorcycle youths are more undead than alive. Younger brother Sam (Corey Haim) works hard to eradicate the ghoulies but his older brother (Jason Patric) falls in love with the bunch's lone female (Jami Gertz). Soon, he finds that he's gradually becoming a vampire himself. An interesting candy-coated meditation on teen conformity with a great rock soundtrack.

Customer Reviews of Lost Boys (Blu-ray)
fun 80's horror flick5/27/2012
I think everyone has one movie that they absolutely love, that will not make any greatest movie of all time lists. For me its The Lost Boys. While the plot is sufficient and the acting is decent, what makes this film one of my favorites is its style. The cool clothes, music and overall atmosphere are the things really worth seeing here. From the opening scene, which shows the unusual people at a California amusement park while playing a remake of The Doors' "People Are Strange" (done by Echo and the Bunnymen) to the surprising one liner ending, you will love it. Fun from beginning to end!
How can an 80's film collection NOT include this film? Great vampire flick to boot!
