Editor's Note
Idris Elba reassumes the lead role of detective John Luther for this Second Series of the BBC's popular detective drama LUTHER - which originally aired in the UK from June 14th-July 5th, 2011. The four installments that comprise Series Two - all of which appear in this collection - begin following the brutal slaying of wife Zoe, Luther's gross betrayal by friend Ian Reed, and Luther's self-imposed exile working on cold cases. Luther returns, yet this time, he's working for the nascent Serious and Serial unit, under the aegis of officer Martin Schenk (Dermot Crowley). Very quickly, Luther reassembles his old cohorts, including Detective Erin Gray (Nikki Amuka-Bird) and Detective Justin Ripley (Warren Brown), and the group begins working on a baffling case involving a masked serial killer who wanders through London, committing ritualized murders in historically significant locations. This set contains all four Series Two installments.

As series two, which consists of four hours split into two stories, begins, Luther has been wasting away working cold cases. He is given the chance to come back to investigate current crimes, but with his old unit gone, he will now serve under Martin Schenk (Dermot Crowley, Raw, Bleak House), a former police complaints officer who, with good reason, isn't sure that Luther should be a cop at all....read the full review | |
