DO NOT BUY THIS CRAP !6/2/2011
I purchased this system thru eBay for roughly the same price. After 20 minutes of goofing around with the rather vague installation manual I had it up and running. Initially I was reasonably satisfied until 3 months later one of my channels blew. It happened out the sky blue. Nothing was touched, no wires moved or disturbed and for no reason my right front channel began an ear shattering screech. I simply unplugged the speaker and used the sub and the remaining satellite speakers. Then less than 2 months after that, the sub began humming loudly (often times even over the a/c unit). After turning it off for a few hours I turned it back on and suddenly the sub woofer had a loud hum. I unplugged the satellite speakers to see if the wall plug might be causing the hum and tried several plugs thruout the house and met the same loud hum. When I plug the satellite speakers not only is there the loud hum that superceedes the audio...but now the sats screech even louder. DO NOT BUY THIS PIECE OF CRAP PRODUCT ! It is designed to go bad and is not worth a warranty either.
A nice speaker system for the price!1/13/2011
I got this product on Ebay, not Buy.com. That being said, I will say it's a nice product. The sound is good to very good and the setup for the actual speakers is simple. It doesn't have a big A/C adapter you have to make room for, just a regular plug like a lamp. If you want to use this as a computer speaker system with regular 3.5mm output plugs (standard audio plugs) you will need to purchase 2 additional 3.5mm to dual RCA male wires to hook it up with full 5.1 surround sound. Length is up to you, but that is what you will need. The box only comes with one, and you need 3. The 5 speakers sound good to very good, not great. You're not getting a 300 dollar system, but you aren't paying for one, either. It comes with a remote that actually has more functions on it than on the front panel of the subwoofer. I have no idea how loud it can go, it gives me a headache quite easily it can go so loud. All in all, I'd say this is a nice system. Quality wise, it feels pretty good. It has definitely put a new spin on my Arma2 game as I can now hear people shooting behind me, allowing me to spin around and defend myself. Setup will take a little while as you'll have to set your computers 5.1 channel audio output up. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AT LEAST A 5.1 channel sound card in your computer or you will NOT get surround sound!!! I can't stress this enough! If you don't know what sound card you have, and don't know how to find out, call someone and ask them to help you. You will be very disappointed if you don't get what you pay for. It does NOT have a digital optical input, all inputs are RCA plug type inputs. You will be using the older style cables and such to connect everything, not a big deal, just make sure that you have what you need. All in all this is a nice unit. You will enjoy it.
